Our Mission

The primary mission of the CRF is to promote education and support basic science and clinical research in the field of articular and meniscal cartilage to benefit patients with cartilage pathology.  The CRF seeks to develop strategies and treatments to prevent the initiation or progression cartilage problems as well as to formulate evidence-based treatment algorithms.  This will be achieved through several activities, including:

1.      organizing meetings that facilitate a multidisciplinary approach involving academic and private practice clinicians,   individuals from the biotechnology and medical device industry and regulatory experts to interact in an open forum,

2.      performing multicenter outcomes initiatives collected prospectively using validated instruments,

3.      serving as an organization to evaluate and implement innovative biotechnology through sound clinical and basic science research,

4.      assisting regulatory agencies and the health insurance industry in the assessment of current and emerging treatment options for cartilage restoration,

5.      assimilation of pre-clinical, clinical and post-market results in an effort to develop evidence-based treatment algorithms.
